What's the easiest way to back upsource codeto DVD-RW/CD-RW? I've been saving only to the HD up to now.

Any DVD burner program will allow you to save files there. If you want a backup process - I use SyncBackPro which also handles backing up to DVD, as well as versioning.

Rather than BU to DVD I suggest you conside getting a couple >>gig USB BU drives.
Then use something like Acronis True Image and backup your disk image.
Then something runs afoul you can reload it on a mirror system.
BU your entire disk image weekly with incremental BU's daily (which are faster)
You can also simply BU directories, etc
They have versions with USB 3.0 which run much faster than 2.0 and you can get units which have build in hardware locks (for security) for example, see Apricorn
