How do I buy the Academic Visual Fortran Compiler

How do I purchase theIntel Visual Fortran Complier for students? I know that I somehow need to contact a reseller. Please advise.

I have MS Visual Studio 9.0 running. I got it through school.

I have downloaded a free 30 daytrial version of Visual Fortran and it is running, but will not compile.

It won't compile because it is missing a file:rc.exe

Idon't know how to handle this.Please advise.

In Visual Studio, please select Help > About. Click Copy Info and paste the results into a reply here. rc.exe is part of Visual C++ and should be installed with Visual Studio.

The Intel Software Development Suite Student Edition is available from Programmer's Paradise.

Ok, that looks fine. Is rc.exe in C:Program FilesMicrosoft SDKsWindowsv6.0ABin ? Do you even have that folder?

In Visual Studio. select Tools > Options > Intel Visual Fortran > Compilers. Click the ... button next to Executables. Does the list include $(WindowsSdkDir)bin ? If not, add it, or click Reset All.

Ok, I see in your other post that you already checked Tools and that the SDK folder is empty.

In Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (or Programs and Features), select Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and click Change, and then Add or Remove Features. When it displays the features tree, expand Visual C++ > Visual C++ Tools. Make sure that "Win32 Tools" is checked. If it isn't, check it and click Update. If it is checked, I suggest doing a "Repair" on the Visual Studio installation.

How do I repair the Visual Studio installation?

Will this involve uninstalling the Visual Studio; uninstalling the Visual Fortran; reinstalling the Visual Studio and reinstalling the Visual Fortran ?

Additionally, How do I replace the free 30 day Fortrantrial version license with the permanent student license ?

When you start up the Visual Studio installer (same way as the first time), it should offer options to repair or modify your installation. You would verify that C++ option is checked. Following that, you could start up the ifort installation from the program filesintelcompilerdownload folder, or repeat from scratch.
If you choose an update, you would enter the new license key when installing. Otherwise, you could simply replace the license file in program filescommonintellicenses

In this case, the repair is independent of Intel Visual Fortran. As Tim says, repeat the selection of Visual Studio in Add or Remove Programs, select Change. Once the installer loads and you go to the Maintenance screen, Repair will be an option.

I agree that when you install the purchased version, enter the new serial number at the install screen. That is the simplest way.

I have done the repair. I am still having the same problem. I can not compile. Error message remains:rc.exe not found.

I replaced the license file in program filescommonintellicenses.

This is not a Fortran license problem. At this point I recommend uninstalling Intel Visual Fortran, uninstalling Visual Studio and then reinstalling Visual Studio. Check to see if rc.exe is now present. If it is, proceed to reinstall Intel Visual Fortran.
