Hello,
I want to use ‘Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Shell and Libraries’ within Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Fortran. However, I currently have the license for Intel Parallel Studio 2016. Do I need to downgrade to 2013 or 2015 version in order to work with VS 2010 shell and libraries? Or does 2016 version supports VS 2010 shell and libraries?
Thank you!

If you already have the VS 2010 Shell installed then it will work with the Parallel Studio XE 2016 release. If you do not then you need to first download the Parallel Studio XE 2015 version to install/use the Visual Studio 2010 Shell distributed with that release. The PSXE 2016 release ships with the newer VS 2013 Shell.
If you only have your new PSXE 2016 serial number in hand at this point, then first review the article, How Do I Get a License File for an Offline Installation of Intel® Parallel Studio XE 2016 or Intel® System Studio 2016? for registering your S/N and host id. This will provide you with the ability to obtain your license file. After configuring/generating the license file, download a copy to your target installation system.
Next, download the PSXE 2015 release. I advise using the latest Update 5 unless you need a specific version. Refer to How do I get an older version of an Intel® Software Development Product? for advice on obtaining the PSXE 2015 release download.
Once downloaded, during the installation Activation step use the alternative option of specifying the license file. In the absence of any detected Visual Studio version, the VS 2010 Shell will be installed.

The main reason to use an older version of Visual Studio than the one distributed with Intel Fortran is if you use one or more non-Intel development packages with that older VS, such as MS Visual C++, etc. If retaining compatibility between Visual Studio 2010 and the non-Intel package is not required, why not install and use the version of Visual Studio Shell that is packaged with Parallel Studio 2016?

Kevin,
Thanks a lot for your answer. It is very helpful and I will follow the procedure you suggested. Thanks!
mecej4,
Many thanks for your answer. I need to retain the compatibility with VS 2010 because I'm using a non-intel development package and the defined version is VS 2010 libraries. Hence I will downgrade to PSXE 2015. Thanks!

Parallel Studio XE 2016 is supposed to work with VS2010 Shell. But I have seen several reports saying that it doesn't recognize this on install.
