MKL update query

I have VS2005 and the integration I have is

Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE 2011 Update 6 Integration for Microsoft Visual Studio* 2005, 12.1.3514.2005, Copyright (C) 2002-2011 Intel Corporation

I have received an email regarding an MKL 10.3 update 8 for Windows. I have downloaded the X32/64-bit package and started to install it but I have stopped at the window with the following message:

Intel Composer XE 2011 installation can continue, but take note

Intel C++ Composer XE 2011 Integration(s) in Microsoft Visual Studio* is already installed.
If you proceed to install, the Intel C++ Composer XE 2011 IDE integration(s) will be uninstalled and the Intel Composer XE 2011 IDE integration will be installed. You will be able to select the Intel C++ Composer XE 2011 product from that integration; however, you will be unable to use the Intel C++ Compiler 11.0 within the Visual Studio IDE (if it is currently installed).

As far as I am aware, I do not use the C++ 11.0 compiler, except maybe the resource editor.
I am using composer XE 2011. Is it safe to continue?

P.S.

In the same warning box is the message
"PATH environment variable size is close to its limit.
It is recommended to eliminate unnecessary items in the PATH environment variable using Control Panel >System >Advanced (on Microsoft Windows* XP / Vista / Server 2003) or Control Panel >System and Security >System >Advanced (on Microsoft Windows* 7 / Server 2008) before you continue the installation."

I have looked at PATH and find, after removing a couple of old folder names, that it is 990 characters long and it contains the following folder chain:

Are any of the IFORT/IA32 folders dispensable with?
(as you can see, I still have DevStudio/CVF installed and occasionally use it)

I assume that what you actually installed was Visual Fortran Update 8, as I don't think that the separate MKL install has any VS integration (I could be mistaken about this.)

The warning about integration can be ignored - I am not sure why it is displayed, but I see this too. The only part of it that is relevant is to say that you can't use an 11.0 compiler in the 12.1 integration.

You can remove these values from PATH:

C:\Program Files\Intel\ComposerXE-2011\redist\ia32\mkl;
%IFORT_COMPILER12%redist\ia32\mpirt;
%IFORT_COMPILER12%redist\ia32\compiler;

There are VC6 items in the quoted path. If Visual Studio 6 and CVF are no longer in use, those should be removed.
