Maximum flood limit reached

Correct the highlighted errors and try again. Maximum flood limit reached.

I am getting quite irritated by this. You reply to something and then your ration of replies is used up for some period of time that is non-trivial.

I asked Intel colleagues to double-check your account and the reason you received the error message. It appears that the number of requests originating from your account/IP has reached a limit. Do you observe it from the same browser (which one)? You may also try a different browser to see if the problem persists. It may help to isolate the problem.

Only use chrome on windows or android but mostly windows. Would use of a VPN be relevant?

I too am having the Flood Limit issue if I attempt to post more than one reply per day via Chrome.  I am not using a VPN, but the corporate system does use URL checking.

@andrew_4619 Can you show us screenshot of what it looks like and when you are getting this?

I have had to wait to be able to post

I think that VPN could be the point. A VPN exposes a common IP address to web sites. So many can share that IP and if quotas are IP related, the limit could be reached.

I had a similar thoughts. I know John Nichols has had the same problem because he posted about it.  whatever the algorithm I think it needs some refinement!

My dearest Intel:

A flood on a river is a height of water that goes over the bank, usually at a 5 year stage.  Your flood limit using all different techniques is 1 (One) (Uno) post, and then all you get is the red flag.

One(1) cannot be a flood, sorry, because that would imply that the bank full limit is less than one, and you have an integer system and my kindergarten teacher, Mrs Paul, taught me the integers are unique and not divisible in the integer number system below 2, and to the best of my knowledge she got it correct using the standard system.

Two would be nice, three would mean that Santa came early and for four I would thank you a lot.

But it is never more than 1. And 1 is not a flood, it is a single message, like your tea is ready, may I have a biscuit please?, sorry your flood limit is reached we did not get your question about the biscuit, with apologies to the original author.

Warm regards

John Nichols

I wanted to send in a new message, entitled "Annoying behaviour of the forum":

"I am experiencing some annoying behaviour of the forum in this new year.

First of all: whenever a new window is shown, I get the question whether I want to activate or deactivate cookies. I have refused them some ten or twenty times now.

Secondly, my password, which was fine last year, is not accepted anymore.

I may very well be the only one, but that does not mean it is less annoying."

(Despite this: the best wishes for 2026)

But on pressing the Send button, I got the dreaded error message about a maximum flood limit reached myself as well.

As I have not posted anything much in the past couple of weeks, I cannot imagine that it is a valid error. It may be that I use some VPN connection (I have no idea how to verify this), but it adds to my annoyance.

1. It is not VPN as I do not use VPN and I get the flood limit always at one.

2. I do not log on more than once per day and I only send one message, which to say politely is quite droll.

3. My understanding is Intel has farmed out the forum to non-Intel people and clearly the level of care is somewhat below the level set by Mary Taylor and the ilk over the last twenty years.

Whilst looking for a picture I found this site, https://sites.northwestern.edu/ww1/about/

it is worth a look. A hospital in France full of Northwestern Uni Nurses,  it is quite sad and uplifting at the same time.
