New update

Frequent updates are great, especially for user's encountering problems fixed in an update. However, in many cases only a limited subset of users will benefit from an update. As the download files are now around 250MB, it would be helpful to know what has been fixed or improved before having to download the full update file.

The instructions say to "please download and read the separate README file and Release Notes".

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I cannot see any link for them on the download page. The "What's New" & "more info" pages provide minimal info & have no links to the README file and Release Notes that I can find.

Are these files available as separate downloads? If so, what are the URL's?

Select File Downloads in the left column, select product Intel Fortran Compiler for Windows, Category: Documentation, and you'll see the release notes and README file listed there. Unfortunately our current system doesn't allow for direct links in the download descriptions, and we don't want to clutter up the What's New with these files (We had complaints of too much stuff there.)

BTW, the update you probably want is 9.0.021. I see an update to 8.1 was more recently posted.

Whyjust don'tpublish a small updates. For example: w_fc_p_9.0.018 -- 250 Mb, w_fcp_p_9.0.018 --500 Mb, w_fc_u_9.0.021 -- small update for any version. ***9.0.019-020 -- del. When appiars 022 thendelete 021.

First, you need only the latest update, and for the Standard Edition, you can start with the latest w_fc_c_xxx package. Professional Edition users have to install the w_fcp_p_xxx package first, then get the w_fc updates.

We are painfully aware that these packages are enormous, and get complaints from users almost daily about it. I'm working on a proposal to offer some "subset" updates that, for example, contain only the IA-32 components. In the long term, we know we need to go to a more "cafeteria style" approach and several options are being considered.
