Problems Installing Visual Fortran 11.1

First I was getting an ERROR 1335 everytime I try to install VFC 11.1. So I made an account and registered the product and found out the program got changed to VFC XE 2011. Ok so i downloaded the update. Now when I start to install it and insert the SERIAL NUMBER (XXX-XXXXXXX) I get another error message.
ACTIVATION RIGHTS DO NOT ALLOW THIS SOFTWARE TO BE INSTALLED. THIS COULD BE DUE TO EXPIRED SUBSCRIPTION OR INCOMPATIBLE SERIAL NUMBER.
I don't understand why I'm getting this error message when I was using the same serial number to install VFC 11.1 and never got that message.
So if anyone could help. Thanks.
EDIT - I just found the email with the correct serial number. You can delete this thread.

The serial numbers themselves work only when installing the version they were issued for. But once you do the first install, a license file is installed on your system that is valid for future versions, as long as the support end date has not passed. What you can do is log in to the registration center, ask it to email you the license file, save that to your desktop. Then when you install the new version, select "alternative" (I think that's what it says) on the first license page, then specify you have a license file on the second page. That should work. If it doesn't, please let us know. (Do not include your serial number in the post unless you "Mark this post Private".)
