Using Visual Studio 2005 Beta With Intel Fortran 9.x

We just received some more copies of the Intel Fortran Compiler For Windows 9.0 and was wondering if using Visual Studio 2005 Beta is okay or whether to use Visual Studio .NET 2003 ? We haven't had any problems with the .NET 2003 but are thinking that having people get used to Visual Studio 2005 would be helpful now since it will be released soon.

No, this combination does not work.

Quoting from the Installation Guide and Release Notes under System Requirements:

"Note: Microsoft Visual Studio* 2005 is not supported by Intel Visual Fortran Compiler 9.0. Support for Visual Studio 2005 will appear in a compiler product update after public release of Visual Studio 2005 by Microsoft."

VS2005 requires a different integration implementation than 2002/2003 and MS does not allow a vendor to release a product based on an MS beta version. If you're interested in joining our beta test of a future version with VS2005 support, send your request to Intel Premier Support and we'll contact you when the time comes.

Hi steeve,

We are currently in the process of buying the last version of the IVF compiler (9.0). As you say on this thread, this version is not compatible with Visual Studio .NET 2005 because it is still in beta. The official release of VS .NET 2005 is set to the 7th of November. Can you tell me if the compatible version of IVF would be issued close after or not and if the update will be free for registered users of IVF 9.0 (as VS .NET 2005 is be issued soon we prefer to wait for this version rather than buying VS .NET 2003 but if a compatible version of IVF is not available in the row we will lose in development time)

As for upgrades, you get all updates and upgrades issued while your support license is still valid. New purchases get 12 months of support included, after which you can renew at a discount.

The release of IVF that supports VS2005 is still some months away. However, we'll be glad to have you beta test our compiler and integration once that starts (soon). You can send me mail at steve.lionel at intel.com if you want to be added to the list.
