I would like to be able to compile Fortran (*.for) files into a mex file under Matlab, using Visual Fortran Compiler. Before I purchase a single user, comercial licence for Visual Fortran Compiler Pro. Ed. I would like to make sure with this one off payment of $700 (+VAT I guess) I could compile for as long as I want, not having to incur any extra costs. I believe the compiler also requires Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Shell to be installed, but this should be free if I am not mistaken (?).
Thank you in advance,
Michal

Yes, the VS shell is included in the non-academic ifort for Windows, and will install automatically if there is no qualifying version of full Visual Studio present.

And the purchase lets you compiler that compiler version without a time limitation, but to get newer versions of the compiler you would need purchase support renewals after the first year.
