Why cant I add a new project to an existing Solution ?

I have a Visual 2017 Solution, that I wanted to add a new project to.

But every time time I do it, it wants to make a new solution instead.

I dont see this behavior with an older Visual Studio (2010) I have.

I thought we were always able to add new projects to an existing solution.

Have they changed that ?

If this is the wrong forum, where can I ask about this problem ?

This is the right forum. Please detail the steps you are trying to use for this. I just added several projects to a solution without issue.

You should be right clicking on the Solution and selecting Add > Existing Project. You can also do this from the File menu.

Well, I opened a BLANK solution and tried to put a new project into it. It kept asking me for a new solution name.

I used FILE, and "new project" under that drop down menu.

Here is a screen shot of what I saw.

I dont see a place where I can right click on the solution. where is that located ?

Is that a special drop down menu somewhere ?

I only saw "New project."

OK, but I still could not get anything about Fortran.

But thats because I have the broken interface version, I guess.

Which version were you showing me ?

Ok, I did find the Parallrl studio, free 30 day trial.

See if that works for me.

I was using VS2017 and the current Intel Fortran 18.0.3 (which, as you say, has problems but not this one.)

I'm going to guess that you told VS2017 to disable the Fortran integration after getting one of the error messages.

with a solution open if you do File > New > Project  the last picture in post #5 is a little different in that it has two more entry boxes

of of which defaults to "Create new solution" and one which has thed default name for the new solution. Both options can be changed.....

I think maybe this is the problem in the original post?
