Why does the INTEL updater provide much better service to my non Intel computers than the large manufacturer who has been in business since the 1950s. 

No answer necessary.  

PS my very old NUC's had a BIOS update last week, Intel looks after their stuff.  

Fortran - yes something related to Fortran.  Nice language.

I assume you're talking about driver and BIOS updates. Yes, Intel does a very good job keeping older hardware updated. Dell is also good.
