Last week i upgraded to parallel studio xe 2015 update 5 professional edition. When starting visual studio professional 2012 for the first time it says (incompatible) The application is not installed. So after reinstalling and reading the warnings, i came to the conclusion it wasn't compatible with VS 2012 (i forget the exact wording).
So i installed VS 2015 and parallel studio xe 2016. I couldn't get my project to build... some error with rc.exe...
Now i'm trying to get back where i was with VS 2012 and parallel studio 2015 update 4 but every installation i've tried fails. I've uninstalled all parallel studio versions from Control Panel>Programs and Features (there are none currently listed in the app list). However when i try to install 2015 update 4 i get this message:
Intel(R) Parallel Studio XE 2015 Update 4 Professional Edition for Fortran Windows* Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error(s).
Windows Installer failed to configure product:
Error message: The full package of Intel Inspector XE 2015 Update 1 is already installed.
Error code: 1603
File name: cs_he_cli.msi
Installer logs location: C:\Users\rcooper\AppData\Local\Temp\pset_tmp_PSXE2015_rcooper\2015.09.29_22.18.54_00000dd4\log\
I'm on windows 7.
I searched but didn't come up with anything. Any ideas?
thanks,
rob

Thank you again for the logs. There is a lot to sift through to determine the original failure with Update 5 to where you are now with the inability to revert back to your original configuration. I forwarded the logs along and details of the error to the Installation Developers for analysis. I will keep you updated on what is found and recommendations for getting past the current error.

Hi Rob,
Sorry for inconvinience. This is known issue and is already fixed in the newer versions of Inspector. I'll send you a script which will help you to fully uninstall Inspector. Hope it unblock PSXE installation.
To uninstall Inspector XE 2015 Update 1 using my script you should:
- Unzip the archive with the script (you can find it in attachement: remove_inspxe.zip);
- Open the Windows CMD and invoke the script (you can find an example of script invocation in the attached picture: remove_inspxe.png):
- without any options if you want just be sure that Inspector XE is found by the script (optional): D:\tlazarev>remove_inspxe.py;
- with '-d' option to find and delete Inspector XE 2015 Update 1: D:\tlazarev>remove_inspxe.py -d.
Best regards,
Tatiana Lazareva (install engineer).

Thanks Tatiana,
However i was unable to get it to work. I ran your script and it said successfully removed, i then called "remove_inspxe.py" and the results appeared the same as before i called "remove_inspxe.py -d" (see attached screen shot).
I tried installing xe 2015 update 4 anyway and got the same error as before. Any ideas?

I restricted my installation of 2015 update 5 (upgrading from update 4) on Win10 to the 64-bit compilers, without MKL MIC support or C++ performance libraries, and didn't run into any difficulties.

I probably sound like a broken record of late to our Fortran forum readers with the rash of installation issues reported, but it is sincere when I say that we are sorry to hear about the problems with the installation. That is not the user experience we wish to hear about.
@Matthew G. - I'm sorry to hear about your case too. I would like get some logs from your situation also if I could so I can get those into our Installation Developers hands. I will send you a private reply regarding obtaining those and details about what you found has been broken.

Thank you Matthew G. for your private follow-up regarding suspicions a conflict with SandboxIE appears to have contributed to your issue installing PSXE 2015 Update 5; that uninstalling SandboxIE and repairing Parallel Studio XE 2015 resolved your issue.
We do not have any information specific to our installation with SandboxIE; however, given its designed purpose it seems plausible running our installer sandboxed could have obstructed the installation. I’m glad to know you resolved the issue and thank you again for the follow-up.

Tatiana,
1) Inspector is not listed in "Programs and Features" (see "programs and features.jpg" attached).
3) In windows\installer there were two MSIs listed (see "windows_installer.png" attached). I was able to successfully uninstall both of them.
I attempted to install XE2015 update 4 again and this time it was successful.
Thanks for your help.

Rob,
I am glad that your problem was resolved.
Thank you for the results of checks, possibly the Inspector was installed twice due to some reasons (but it is impossible in normal case). If it is reproduceable, please let me know.

Can you attach the ActivityLog.xml file mentioned in the startup error so we can inspect it?

Thank you. I gathered up that along with the earlier snap shots and reported this latest error to the IDE integration Developers for their help analyzing this and offering guidance on what can be done to clear the error and restore your setup.
