I've been using graphics monitor with no issue for about a year up until a few days ago, but now when I try to start a program with graphics monitor on auto-detect it freezes it on startup and has to be forced to close through external methods. i'm at a loss as to why this happens as nothing has changed on my pc between now and a few days ago to my knowledge.

Hi D-EFF,
Thank you for your post!
If I understand the issue correctly, applications are freezing on startup when attached with Graphics Monitor when auto-detect on. We are sorry you are experiencing this, and someone on our team is working on reproducing this issue. In order to provide the most accurate assistance on this matter, I'd like to confirm a few details:
What is the game/application you are attempting to playback? Would you be able to share it with us?
Could you share the stream information? (accessible using the (i) icon in the top right hand corner of the screen, see picture below)
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.

I believe i've indentified the issue as Steam's recent update flagging it as piracy software. downgrading steam allows it to work normally again.

Thanks for updating us with the latest status D-EFF.
I'm happy to hear that you found a solution!
I attempted to reproduce the issue you discovered using Intel GPA 2024.4 (which will be released in the future) using a Steam update from December 2nd on DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 titles. I was able to capture normally however and did not encounter the application hanging and not responding on startup.
We are interested as to how this situation occurred. If you have any other information that you think may be relevant regarding your pc environment, or if you are able to use the newest builds of steam again for your frame analysis needs please let us know. We are glad you were able to get your GPA usage unblocked!

Hi,
I'd like to chime in on this discussion because I've noticed the same issue. I also came to the conclusion that the issue lies with the Dec 3 steam update, but I also noticed that only some titles seem to be affected (or I was simply unable to get GPA to hook on the correct application and can't say for sure that it affects all titles).
You said that you got it to work on an update from Dec 2, but is that the newest and most recent update from steam? Have you successfully got it to work within the last week?

Hi west_f,
I'm glad you got the downgrade steps for steam in order to solve your issue. Thanks D-EFF!
Would you be able to provide names of titles that you found to be affected with the Dec 3 steam update?
We'd like to reproduce this issue so we can track it in the future.
Cheers!

Hi,
I started looking into this a little. It seems like not every game is affected, and some modes are not affected as well. It also seems to depend on whether the game runs with DX11 or DX12 and if you start frame capture in DX11/12.
So what I found is this (very limited library):
Games unaffected:
-Manor Lords
-Deep Rock Galactic
-Witcher 2
Games affected in DX11 Frame Capture mode:
-Conan Exiles
-Insurgency Sandstorm
-Wayfinder
Some of these games were able to start in DX12 capture mode, but quickly crashed soo afterwards. None of them were affected when acpturing streams or traces. All of these issues still persists with the 24.4 update.
I hope this helps in the future.

GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE-
GUILTY GEAR Xrd REV 2
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
Street Fighter 6
DNF Duel

HI whatgoat,
A hotfix just went live today on the official Intel GPA download link.
This update should resolve the issue you have encountered with Graphics Monitor freezing programs launched from newer builds of the Steam client. It also fixes Graphics Monitor Server crashes which some customers have encountered.
