SDE Licensing Clarification

The "What-If" intel license accepted when downloading the Intel SDE does not make it clear if it would be acceptable to bake the SDE into CI images. As an example, the simdjson project can use the SDE to emulate SSE/AVX2 on CI machines that may not have native support for AVX2, or to turn features on & off to test runtime dispatch.

The license appears to allow for this through its minimum-copy clause but only in the case where the images are not public, as they would be for an open-source project like simdjson.

It would be great if we could get clarification on this, or an explicit "redist.txt" added to the SDE that allows the distribution in unmodified form for CI images.

I am not speaking for intel or giving you a legal interpretation, just hoping to get you unblocked.

If you need to host the SDE binary in the cloud and are using travisci or similar, use a private environment variable to hide the URL.

That does seem like it would comply with the minimum-copy and the no-distribution clauses. Will give this a try, thank you Robert. Still hopeful the license can be worked out but this will definitely work in the meantime.
