Encoder Performance

hello,
is there somebody experienced in JPEG or MPEG encoding on PXA255 or PX27x processors.
I'm trying to figure out if these processors are able to encode VGA (YUV420) in about 15 frames/sec.
I think the PXA27x processors might be a better solution because it uses the wireless MMX technology.

Hi
you can take IPP samples and do such estimation by yourself, using your system and your environment. You also should consider IXP processors, like Intel IXP425, which is Xscale architecture.

Hi Vladimir,
i can't make my own estimation! I dont't have a PXA27x based system. Thats why i'am asking if somebody has one and did some performance tests with jpeg encoding.
BTW, thanks for your tip about the IXP4xx processor! Do you think it has enough performance to handle jpeg compression and communication tasks?
best regards

Hi,
yes, IXP processor should cover communication requirements, but probably not for VGA resolution (640x480).
