Hope that helps,
well, I attended that course and I would definitely recommend it.
I am a physicist working with Monte Carlo models of particle transport on matter. My main working language is Fortran and I was able to follow the course without problems. The course is a very good starting point to parallel programming and at least in my case it gave me all the tools needed to start working with the Intel Xeon Phi MICs. Now I am working on a local cluster with several MICs attached with success.
