example of out of order memory reads

Hi,

Does anyone have a simple example of how out of order reads can cause a problem (on multi-core or multi-proc machines)? I've read through Section 7.2 of http://developer.intel.com/design/processor/manuals/253668.pdfand understand that the order of reads is not guaranteed.
