I currently have Optane paired with an internal SATA-based 3.5" HDD. However, this HDD has been having some issues with regards to the SATA connection on the motherboard. Due to some circumstances preventing me from replacing the otherwise perfectly fine motherboard, I'm considering putting the drive in a USB 3.0-based external enclosure. Is Optane compatible with this configuration?

Hi supertanno,
Thank you for posting in the Intel® communities.
Unfortunately, the configuration you are mentioning is not supported by the Intel® Optane™ Memory.
The module is intended to work with SATA drives that must be connected directly to the SATA port.
I hope this information answers your concern. If there is anything else I can help you with, let me know.
Have a nice day.
Regards,
Diego V.
