Hello ssing147,
Thank you for contacting Intel® Memory & Storage Support.
As we understand you have a Dell 5570 laptop with a 1TB HDD being accelerated by an Intel® Optane™ Memory and you are interested in adding another SSD to install Ubuntu* on it. If we inferred correctly review the information below:
- We advise you to contact your OEM (original equipment manufacturer) in this case Dell* to get further support and assistance related to the compatibility of your PC with the new hardware and software.
- Depending on your OS configuration you may be able to access the 1TB HDD from Ubuntu*.
- Depending on the file system that you choose during the Ubuntu* installation for your SSD you may be able to access this data from your Windows* OS and be able to store information in that drive.
- Before processing any changes in your system we advise you to back up your information since unknown issues may occur when you are trying to install multiple OS on the same PC.
The best way to assure compatibility and to get the proper BIOS configuration before performing this process is to contact your OEM Dell*.
We hope you find this information helpful and please let us know if you need further assistance.
Best regards,
Josh B.
