I'm about 4 days from completing the Partner training for Optane and DCPM. Today's module was the most exciting one. I'm going to have so many questions.
Here's my initial questions:
- Why did you make each memory DIMM firmware upgradeable? You have WAY too much time on your hands. What advantages do you get by doing this?
- How long will these last? Are they like SSDs with a limited number of read/writes?
- Is there a remote way to manage all these from an application? If your system is large. This looks like you going to need a dedicated admin just for DCPM management.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Intel DCPMM Community Support.
I was reviewing your questions and I have the answers below:
- One of the advantage and the most important one, it is in order to protect the component in case of vulnerability and to have the component up to date.
- Please check the link below on page 5; it has more details and information about the read/write of the Intel DCPMM: https://www.intel.la/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/optane-dc-persistent-memory-brief.pdf
- Could you be so kind and provide me with more information about which specific details would you like to manage? Are you planning to perform the firmware update remotely or you would like to verify the status and activity of the DCPMM in the system?
I will be waiting for your outcome in order to proceed with the next step.

#3, The management of the firmware on the DCPMM.
- Will you be prompted to update the firmware?
- How will this work with multivendor DCPMM?
- Large systems like HPC w/DCPMM. With all there regions, a firmware update might disrupt the system for an extended period of time. Will I need to add extra time to the maintenance window?

Hello,
Thank you for replying back, I hope you find very well.
- Yes, in our labs, we have the correct equipment to perform this update accordingly. However, we will use the Intel DCPMM inside of an Intel Server System.
- Yes; however, in some cases the multivendor can change some specifications of the component. It will be always important to verify those details directly with the multivendor manufacture.
- It could be a good idea to add extra time to the maintenance windows, moreover, it will depend on the specifications of your PCs (Motherboard & Processor).
Best regards,

Please don't close this. I completed all the Intel Partner University (IPU) comptencies last week. Then I had to get some IPU bug issues fixed on the site. Now I the module(s) in the mail so I'll have questions next week. Just be patient a little longer. Dealing with Intel has been the bottleneck here..especially these women in OneAPI and Content Strategy.
