I'm curious about the compatibility of different generations of PM.
I know that Gen 1 PM is designed for Scalable 2nd, and Gen 2 for Scalable 3rd, but Is it possible to use Gen 1 PM on Scalable 3rd CPU?
If the answer is yes, will the 'clwb' instruction work correctly on such a platform?
Thanks!

Hello grayxu,
Thank you for joining the community.
The DC Persistent Memory 100 series does not show as compatible with any of the systems supporting 3rd gen Xeon Scalable Processors. Based on that we can say it is not "officially" compatible. (at least not with Intel server systems, not sure about OEMs supporting this type of memory). Either way, in the best-case scenario, that it actually works, it would be a non-supported configuration and will be out of the scope of support. Furthermore, in case it works, it might stop working after any future firmware update with no guarantee of Intel doing anything to make it work back again.
Our suggestion is to better not try such a configuration.

Hope it helps
