Pairing Optane

Hello Support Community,

I am having difficulty pairing my optane.  I have spent some time looking at how to's and following the directions however I seem to have run out of source information.   Theres some pictures attached to help start it off.  I have the BIOS setup to VMD enable.  I sent a ticket to MSI asking them for direction their response was:

"The optane feature is no longer done in the BIOS, Intel has moved this capability through the Intel Rapid Storage software in Windows"

If anyone can give me some pointers that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Colin

Hello Collaysay,

Thank you for providing the screenshot and the additional information.

We acknowledge the disposition provided stating that “the Optane feature is no longer configured in the BIOS, as Intel has moved this capability to the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) software within Windows.” Based on your setup, we understand that you are already using Intel Rapid Storage and that the Optane module has been successfully recognized by the system.

However, despite this, the behavior shown in the screenshot suggests that the issue may be related to a compatibility concern between the Optane module and the motherboard.

Given that your system is using an MSI motherboard, we recommend reaching out directly to MSI Support for further assistance. They will be able to validate motherboard-level compatibility, check for any required BIOS or firmware updates, and provide more targeted troubleshooting specific to your hardware configuration.

At this point, we will proceed with closing the case, as there is no further assistance that we can provide on this matter. Thank you once again for your cooperation and understanding.

Best regards,

Mr BrenzL,

The BIOS is current, and since they didn't mention anything about compatibility issues in that email I'm inclined to think that it is compatible.  Its also listed in the IRST program so it is recognized.

I am leaning more towards a Microsoft issue.   The next step I would take is to backup everything and re install windows on that hard drive and see if the pairing becomes an option during the widows setup.

I would also suggest that closing cases is not a metric of success.  Sometimes its just a matter of digging until the cause is found.  There is a solution to this problem and I intend to find it.
