Quartus obviously needs some decent PC horsepower and my current PC is taking 20 minutes for a complete compile and fit cycle. I've fitted the maximum 4GB of RAM but I'm not using all of it and the page fault rate is low. I'm looking to buy a faster PC, but I'm completely out of touch. Can anyone suggest what I should be looking for in a new PC, e.g.
Core i3, i5, i7 or something from AMD? How many cores? Raw clock rate? Max memory?Link Copied

Just an update for those who are interested. I put together a new PC with an Intel core 2 Duo processor clocked at 3.16GHz and 8GB of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM. I also used a 120GB SSD and installed Windows 7 professional 64 bit. Compared with my old 3.0GHz P4, my compile times have dropped from 15 minutes to 6 minutes 33 seconds.
