Cannot install CmdTool2 on Debian

The server hardware: S5500BCR (Bluff Creek) 8DIMM, 2 x Intel Quad-Core Xeon® E5506

Raid controller: Intel SRCSASLS4I, PCI Express x8

I have downloaded http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Server+Products&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+RAID+Controllers&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+RAID+Controller+SRCSASLS4I http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Server+Products&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+RAID+Controllers&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+RAID+Controller+SRCSASLS4I

and tried to convert rpm to deb with "alien", but "alien -d CmdTool2-5.00.14-1.i386.rpm" fails:

dpkg-shlibdeps: failure: couldn't find library libncurses.so.5 needed by debian/cmdtool2/opt/MegaRAID/CmdTool2/CmdTool2 (its RPATH is '').Note: libraries are not searched in other binary packages that do not have any shlibs or symbols file.To help dpkg-shlibdeps find private libraries, you might need to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH.dh_shlibdeps: command returned error code 512make: [binary-arch] Error 1 (ignored)dh_gencontroldpkg-gencontrol: error: current host architecture 'amd64' does not appear in package's architecture list (i386)dh_gencontrol: command returned error code 65280make: *** [binary-arch] Error 1find: `CmdTool2-5.00.14': No such file or directory

The question: there is a way to monitor SRCSASLS4I controller under debian with 64bit?

thanks

Not that I know of. By the messages below, it looks like alien is not going to be able to repackage the RPM.

Ok, understood.

My primary question: is there a way, to monitor the raid controller under Debian? Somebody has experience with that?

The cmdtool2 package for linux supplied by Intel is for i386 builds, not x86_64,

If enough people ask (nicely) they might make a 64bit package available. One can hope anyway.

In the meantime it's possible to install it, but it makes a mess out of your libraries to do so.

Hi because I think you'll get more answers from the main Server Tech Support Forum.

I moved this discussion there.

It turns out cmdtool2 is identical to megacli from LSI.

There is a debian repository at http://hwraid.le-vert.net/ HWraid

Problem solved (apart from the GUI, which won't install and isn't on the HWRAID site anyway)
