I have noticed that Intel advertisement never inform users that in every day tasks often one cpu is much faster than a dual cpu, due to intercore latency issues.
Our experience and tests shows that in simulation computing executed with metal deformation simulation app on Dell 7920 Workstation with dual CPU is much slower than the same task executed in single CPU. (Also with multiple simulations running in parallel)
Another interesting thing is that single xeon 6230R and 6248R are both much faster than similar production year AMD processor in the same simulation (2:50 vs 3:30) even if AMD processors have higher frequency and core number.
The key difference according to our tests is that intercore latency has a relevant role in many tasks but it is often not advertised nor given in Your specs data, even if Intel often has lowest intercore latency than most competitors.
The missing information of intercore latency is often pushing customer in wrong purchases because it is often only available in minor specialised sites and often only for old products, so oftan cannot be used as information for new purchases.
I hope this can give You a new advertisement/spec information tip for Intel.
Kind regards.
