Lenovo ThinkStation P720, Dual Xeon CPU

Currently, Xeon Gold 6148 installed;

Lenovo recommends Platinum 6180T ("140W")

With additional (non-OEM/aftermarket) cooling,

Can the Platinum 6180 ("150W") be a direct replacement? for the 6180T?

Currently, 6180T is selling at 3 times the price of the 6180

Thank you for any useful information

John

Hello celticbrooder,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community.

I would like to inform you that the processor is a Tray processor As part of an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) system. Tray processors are sold to high volume manufacturers, such as Acer, ASUS , Dell, Hewlett-Packard or Lenovo. They buy processors in bulk, incorporate them into PCs (laptops, desktops, All-in-Ones). Warranty replacements and technical support for tray processors are provided directly by these providers.

Kindly contact OEM (Lenevo) or palace of purchase for further support.

As best effort please go through the below article to compare the intel processors.
