I am using a dell server with 5000P chipset board and E5504 processor. I have read on the intel site that 5000p chipset doesnot support the full features of e5504 processor. What can I do to enhance the performance of the server, do I have to change the motherboard or there can be some other solution. Also what will be the difference in performance if I upgrade it to 5520 chipset.

I could be wrong, but I think you need a 5500 or 5520 chipset to support a 55xx processor.

Looking at http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=24664, for the 5000P I only see 50xx, 51xx, 52xx, 53xx, and 54xx as supported processors.
