Equations with Sparse Matrices

Please, could you suggest me any procedure solving the linearequations with sparse matrices. Till now i've been using NSPIV, but it's written inFortran77, so i'd like to know if there is a newer version of it or may be there is anymore efficient (speed and robustness)procedure? Thanks in advance!
