How to activate MKL after installing via yum or apt

If one installs MKL via yum [1] or apt [2] how should one activate the product?

When installing manually, by following the installation guide [3], one needs to either enter a serial number, to have the product activated online automatically, or provide a license file. This does not appear to be necessary when installing via the yum or apt repositories.

Thanks,

Daniel Renshaw

This was originally posted in the "Intel® Software Development Products Download, Registration & Licensing" forum but appears to have been moved here by an administrator. If it can't be answered here, could it be moved back to the original forum please?

An answer is important because it is unclear how we can comply with the terms of the license agreement whilst also installing via yum or apt. Both of the information pages on installing with yum and apt (see links in original post) state "By downloading Intel® Performance Libraries and Intel® Distribution for Python* you agree to the terms and conditions stated in the End-User License Agreement (EULA)." with a link to [1]. The license being linked to on the website differs from the license that comes with the software installed via yum (the file /opt/intel/compilers_and_libraries_2017.2.174/licensing/mkl/en/license_repo.txt). Which license do we need to comply with?

Thanks, Daniel

Hi Daniel,

We had escalated your issue to marketing manager to consider the license questions.

Regarding the question about the activate product,  you can use it directly  and don't need to active after install MKL by YUM.

Best Regards,

Ying

Thanks Ying. So do we not need a named user license to use MKL when installed via yum or apt? Can we redistribute any part of MKL installed via yum or apt, and if so which parts?

we don’t need any license/ serial number to use MKL/IPP/DAAl when installed via Yum and apt. License terms are attached and you can also see them inside yup/apt package. This license doesn’t limit redistribution of any MKL parts.
