Intel MKL CBLAS compatibility?

Hello

I am new to this forum and so my apologies in advance if these questions have been raised before.

I recall that the earlier versions of the MKL library required the Intel compiler.

Questions:

1) Can the Intel MKL library be used with the GNU C/C++ compiler?

2) Will it also work on a virtual machine (vmware) if an Intel chip is supporting the virtual machine?
