Has there been any progress with updating Intel Manageability Commander to allow for management of vPro NUCs which require TLS certification?

TIA!

Thanks for asking. How about a version of Intel Endpoint Management Assistant that can run on Windows 11, and is not restricted to running on Windows Server!

Hello Rgord,

Greetings!

The Intel Endpoint Management Assistant (Intel EMA) is compatible with both Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems, and is not restricted to running on Windows Server.

Intel® Endpoint Management Assistant (Intel® EMA) software provides the ability to remotely and securely manage Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) devices beyond the firewall via the cloud on known Wi-Fi networks. Intel® EMA is cloud based providing both in-band and out-of-band using an agent in the operating system for any Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 platforms. Supported on all systems with Intel® AMT 11.8.79 or later.

Vijay N.

Unless things have changed I think you'll find that while the EMA agent can be installed on Win 10 or Win 11, the server will only work if installed on Windows Server.

I know that the server could be installed on Windows 11, I did so myself about four months ago, but found that adopted scripts were not pulling the endpoints into EMA.

Hello Rgord,

Greetings!

Here the last note specifies that the windows 10 and 11 is for the end points such as laptops, where the windows server 2019 and windows server 2022 is for the Server end.

Please feel free to revert for any further queries.

Yes!

My query was, and always has been, can you please provide a version of Intel EMA Server that functions properly on Windows 11.

Currently endpoint management of vPro NUCS cannot be done in Admin Control Mode with EMA Server installed in Windows 11.

Hello Rgord1,

Greetings!

Appreciate your patience!

We would like to inform you that the server is recommended to use the windows server 2019 and 2022, which are the supported OS.

And the windows 10 and 11 are recommended to be installed on laptops or the endpoints.

Thanks & Regards

Arun

Yes, I know that, I just said so.

Currently Windows Server is not just recommended, it is necessary.  EMA Server does not function properly on Windows 11.

It is not good enough to hide behind the argument that Intel EMA technology is intended for business use only.

Home users, and small businesses that have bought vPro technology cannot afford to invest in enterprise level solutions such as Windows Server, or third party certificates.

That is why I am asking if you could please provide a version of Intel EMA Server that functions properly on Windows 11!

Thank you.

Hello Rgord1,

Greetings!

Please be advised that the EMA Version has only these prerequisites where the windows 10 and 11 are for the endpoints and the windows server 2019 and 2022 are for the EMA server, apart from which there is no specific version of EMA that supports windows 11 on the server.

You keep saying that, and I keep telling you, yes, we all know that already, it is in the documentation.

What I am asking for is can Intel please get on with providing:

a) A version of Intel Manageability Commander that can be used with vPro NUCs provisioned in admin control mode, and which require TLS authentication with an Intel AMT self-signed certificate.

b) Failing that, a version of Intel EMA that can work properly in Windows 11 to manage vPro NUCs provisioned in admin control mode.

Hello rgord1,

Greetings!

The Intel Manageability commander is at its end of life or end of support, hence please start using EMA or a third-party software such as Mesh commander.

If you are referring to the server, then you may have to use the windows 2019 or 2022, for the EMA to support, as the windows 11 is used for the endpoints (laptops and desktops)

I would be glad to provide further assistance or please let me know if we are good to close this case.

As far as I am concerned the case is not closed until Intel can give some assurance to home and small business users of vPro technology, that they are working either on an update, or replacement for, Intel Manageability Commander, that does not rely on enterprise levels of investment such as Window Server or third party certificates.

Hi rgord1,

Greetings!

Please be advised that Intel EMA was intended for enterprise purposes, hopefully Intel will release a home, small office version in the future.
