Hello,

is it possible to move the EMA Database to a different SQL server?

Can't find much information about this.

We're using Server 2019 and EMA is v1.9.1

thanks

Rob

Hello, Rob_W,

Please give us more details of what you want to accomplish.

Do you want to change the current EMA database to a different SQL database?  Are we talking about the SQL software version or location (computer)?

Will the admin user be the same?

Which SQL software version are you using?

Where is located (physical machine, virtual machine?

Include the operating system that is handling the current EMA database and the future.

Hi Miguel,

we'd like to move the database to another server, both 2019.

Its currently installed on the same physical server as the EMA application in a DMZ.

So we'd like to just move the DB to another server which will be a virtual SQL farm.

The current EMA server and DB are in the DMZ and the new location of the DB will be hosted internally so we'd have to sort out ports to allow through the firewall as well. But the main question is, is it possible to move the DB to another server and reconfigure the EMA application?

SQL server 2017

Admin user will be the same.

thanks for your help.

regards

Rob

Hello, Rob_W,

Thank you for your feedback.

It is possible to change the location of the EMA database.  Please remember to keep a backup of the Database and the Mesh Settings Certificate (IIS) before making the changes.  DMZ is not a restriction.

I am adding the article: Backup EMA SQL DataBase and MeshCertSettings outlined in the EMA installation guide section 1.4.1- Backup important Data. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091583.html
