Hi, I made an echolocation app/device with D435, RPi3 and some coding.
FOSS, see examples here : http://sonic-sight.org/examples.html or github : https://github.com/sonic-sight/sonic-sight
In case you have a depth vision camera and a blind friend, I would be interested to know if your friend would find it useful.
Otherwise I would be grateful for your feedback.

Thanks so much for sharing your echo-location app! I hope you find some testers through your message.
I maintain a list of useful RealSense resources and have added your app to it to make it easier for others to discover.

In the first generation of RealSense cameras in 2015, some Intel employees worked on a personal project that took the alternative approach of using vibrating body-pads to warn of obstacles detected by the camera. You may find it an interesting reference.

Thanks for adding me on your list.
I will see if I can get it tested somewhere.
At the moment it is a bit of a hack, but they say that if it is perfect before a first real test you are doing something wrong.. :D
Thanks for the reference.
One of the ideas of how to make this device more useful, i.e. for deafblind, is to use vibrators instead of speakers/headphones to convey the same information. I will take a look what the intel guys came up with. Probably their budget was slightly larger than mine :D
Thanks again
