I'm confused and don't understand why the Assistant keeps offering me the upgrade and then fails.
Thanks for any help understanding this.

Hello CDres1,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.
Based on the reports provided the current version installed on your system is 17.7.0.1006 which is the one that Intel® Driver & Support Assistant is suggesting to install on your system so this issue might be caused by an Intel® DSA old version.
You can try the following:
- Uninstall the existing Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA) tool in the system using the Uninstaller tool.
- Delete all old log files from C:\ProgramData\Intel\DSA
- Restart the system
- Go directly to Download Center and do a fresh install of Intel®DSA
Best regards,

Thanks for the reply. However, DSA is trying to get me to upgrade from Version 17.7.0.1006 to Version 17.8.0.1065. The upgrade is what fails to install with, "Platform not supported." I have tried the uninstall and then reinstall the newer version but again, the installer repeats the, "Platform not supported."

Hello CDres1,
Thank you for your reply.
I appreciate the clarification, this is what is happening based on the report the driver version installed on your computer is 17.7.0.1006 which is an Intel generic driver. Commonly the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customize the drivers for their own systems. Intel® DSA is a detector tool as well so every time that there is a new generic driver version released the tool will suggest installing it and sometimes the update can fail since some systems can refuse it due to customizations performed by the OEM.
It's important to mention that the recommended driver version for your MSI* GP72MVR 7RFX Leopard PRO is 15.9.0.1015 even if the version is older this driver has customizations made for your system. As a suggestion, you might ask your system manufacturer to release a new customize driver version for your system since the latest generic version is 17.8.0.1065.
If you wish to install 17.8.0.1065 you can try to do it manually I can provide you the steps to do it however bear in mind that Intel recommends that end-users utilize driver updates provided by their system manufacturer/provider or via Windows Update to eliminate the potential impact caused by loading non-customized drivers. System manufacturers regularly customize Intel generic drivers to meet the needs of their specific system design. In such cases, the use of the Intel generic driver update is not recommended.
Best regards,

Thanks for the explanation. I understand more clearly now. I think I'll go back to the MSI recommended driver. Thanks again.
