Intel RealSense 3D Camera Front F200 - driver(s) needed

My HP Envy m7-n109dx notebook came with Windows 8.1 preinstalled. My desktop runs Windows 7. I was tired of having one machine run one version of an OS while the other runs a higher version (previous laptop ran Vista and current desktop has Windows 7). I did a clean install on the HP Envy and put Windows 7 on it. Now the device manager shows "!" next to the RealSense camera. Will this camera work on Windows 7? If so, can someone give me a link to the needed driver(s) file? And lastly, since I never actually USED it, could someone provide a link to what it is, how does it work (if it will on this OS), etc?

SO APPRECIATED! Doreen

Hi Doreen, the driver (called the DCM) is available here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25044/Intel-RealSense-Depth-Camera-Manager Download Intel® RealSense™ Depth Camera Manager. It doesn't 'officially' support Windows 7, but you may be able to use at least some of the features anyway.

As for what it does, check out Intel's (slightly hyperbolic) site here: http://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/uk/en/architecture-and-technology/realsense-overview.html Intel® RealSense™ Technology. There are some games and things you can use with it which you can download here: https://appshowcase.intel.com/en-us/realsense Intel® RealSense™ App Showcase.

Since you never actually used it before it is possible that it did not work. I recently tried to use mine only to discover it doesn't work (for details you can check my question in this forum). If your laptop has factory warranty I suggest you reset it to factory settings, run the Intel RealSense Training app, and if the problem persists, contact Hp Support.

Does Intel only monitor this board now? I haven't seen any official presence in the other forum (https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/realsense Intel® RealSense™ Technology) for quite a while. If this is the case, perhaps you should make it clear that you'll get no official help on if you post there?

Honestly, I'm not sure how the support is provided there. Try to open a thread here with this information to see how we can help you.

jb455/Ivan,

I'm so sorry I haven't answered. I got real sick right after posting this thread and haven't made it back here until today. jb455/Ivan, THANKS ! for the links! I've downloaded the DCM F200 software but when I go to install it I get the following error screen:

** USB3.0 Host Controller driver is required for Depth Camera Manager Installer to continue. Please download and install the Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver from below location and restart DCM installation.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/65855/Intel-USB-3-0-eXtensible-Host-Controller-Driver**

I've downloaded both USB 3.0 drivers only the 4.0.6.60 will install (from August 2016). When I try to install the 3.0 from 2014 I get an error message saying "This computer computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."

(????????)

So does this mean I have an F200 camera in this laptop that will NOT work under Windows 7?

Thanks for the help.

Doreen

I'm sorry this camera does not support Windows®7, this camera is available for Windows® 8.1 and Windows® 10, you can see the System requirements for the Intel® RealSense™ Camera F200 here:

Ivan,

Not meaning to be thick, but if the DCM software needs a USB 3.0 driver and I've installed the latest USB 3.0 driver (from 8/2016), why won't the software run? It's the USB 3.0 driver that says the computer doesn't meet minimum requirements not the DCM software.

There's no workaround for the Windows 7 OS?

Doreen

I'm sorry the DCM is available for Windows®8.1 or Windows®10 but not for Windows®7, even though you install the USB 3.0 driver, it will not work.

I'm sorry this is not what you want to hear but there is not work around for this because it is a compatibility problem, in order for you to run the Intel® RealSense™ you will need to have Windows®8.1 or Windows®10.

Best regards,

Ivan

Ivan,

Thanks so much for answering me (again).

No, it's not what I want to hear, but it is what it is.

At this point I have a useless camera but at least I know where I stand.

I appreciate your time, patience and expertise.
