I'm using Quartus Prime 19.1.0 Lite Edition on Ubuntu 18.04 and can't use Signal Tap Analyzer. I'm using an EP4CE6E22C8. After programming the device, the Signal Tap shows the message "Invalid JTAG Configuration". If I try to Run Analysis with this message I get the error:
Error (261005): Can't find the instance. Download a design with SRAM Object File containing this instance.
I tried to delete and recreate the .stp file, verified if the correct file is added to the project in Assignments->Settings->Signal Tap Logic Analyzer but the error persists.
I did the driver setup steps to configure USB Blaster on Ubuntu (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/support/support-resources/download/drivers/dri-usb_b-lnx.html) but sporadically I get error messages when I try to program the device. I get two types of error messages. Sometimes I get:
Error (209040): Can't access JTAG chain
Error (209015): Can't configure device. Expected JTAG ID code 0x020F10DD for device 1, but found JTAG ID code 0xFFFFFFFF. Make sure the location of the target device on the circuit board matches the device's location in the device chain in the Chain Description File (.cdf).
Error (209012): Operation failed
And sometimes:
Error (209014): CONF_DONE pin failed to go high in device 1. Make sure all communication cables are securely connected, select a different device, check the power on the target system, or make sure all nCE pins are connected to GND. The Intel FPGA Knowledge Database contains many articles with specific details on how to resolve this error. Visit the Knowledge Database at https://www.altera.com/support/support-resources/knowledge-base/search.html and search for this specific error message number.
When I use Windows 10 everything works fine, so I discarded cable problems.
