Is it true than an IR camera is not compatible with a WWAN card?

I am being told that they are only compatible with a WLAN card set up. Is this true?

I cannot think of a reason why a camera with infrared such as RealSense would be affected by a network such as WWAN, which uses wireless mobile telecoms signals. I could not find any examples during my research of WWAN interfering with infrared either.

Presumably the camera would be connected to a USB port on the PC, and the PC would be connected to the network. So a problem with a wireless network should not prevent the camera from working. It could affect the ability to control USB devices remotely over a network though.

Thanks for replying MartyG. My apologies for not making my question clearer. What I meant to say is in my computer build (Dell Latitude 5290 2 in 1) I'm being told that I can't have an IR camera because it has a WWAN card in it and the IR is not compatible with it. Thanks.

The performance of a depth-sensing camera is typically interfered with by another depth-sensing camera placed in close proximity (except in the case of RealSense 400 Series cameras, which do not interfere with each other).

I researched this Dell Latitude model and see that it has a built-in IR camera. So I understand now why you may be concerned about conflict between the built-in cam and another camera with IR.

If you use an Intel RealSense D415 or D435 camera model then a non-RealSense camera should not interfere with it. The RealSense camera can interfere with non-RealSense cameras though. So, if you plan to use a RealSense camera then it should work, but you would probably have problems with the built-in IR cam if you wanted to use that cam at the same time as the RealSense one.
