Software Trigger for Realsense D435

I was wondering, a while ago we asked if it is possible to trigger and synchronize the D435 over software. In July it seemed like this was work in progress.

Do the newest librealsense, ros-wrapper and camera Firmware support that now?

Hardware depth synchronization for D435 was added in the current 5.10.3 firmware version. The D435 cannot do color sync though.
