Yes! Actually, media SDK can perform better with more things to do. There are many hardware components which must be kept busy for peak efficiency, and it is easier to do this with multiple streams. Of course performance will depend on content, parameters, processor used, etc. but on Core i7 and Xeon e3 I've seen concurrent transcodes of roughly 10 HD streams at >= 30 FPS each.
