Intel Media SDK AAC Encoder

Hi, 

The post from http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/topic/311820  mentioned that Media SDK 2.0.12.24071 includes
 "Intel Media SDK AAC Encoder". Is this version of Media SDK still available for download for testing ? Or is there any source code
for AAC Encoder ?

Hi, Yes, Intel Media SDK contains a binary DirectShow AAC encoder filter (source code not available). The filter is provided to enable exploration/prototyping of complete DirectShow pipelines and is not intended to be used in products. Please refer to the SDK EULA for more details. Also, the AAC filter likely does not provide all the features or performance that may be required for production level solution. So, the recommendation for product level solutions is to explore alternative commercial or open AAC filters. Regards, Petter

Please confirm if it still applies to Intel Media SDK 2014. Is there any form of AAC encoder provided with Intel Media SDK which could be used for commercial purposes?

Hi,

Currently we don't provide stand alone AAC encoder along with MediaSDK. With MediaSDK 2015 which can downloaded from INDE https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-inde. where ultimate version has a Audio plugin for Windows which includes the support. Yes, it can be used for commercial purposes.

Let me clarify my question. Is the AAC encoder from INDE redistributable? Can it be shipped with commercial products?

Hi,

Yes, if the applicable files are listed in the "redist" file. Then you can distribute those files provided they comply with all the terms and conditions of EULA. If they are not listed, you may not distribute those files.

  Is it possible to use it as DirectShow filter? Or have DirectShow sample like for video encoder/decoder? 

  I'm not able to find any samples for Audio part of INDE...
