Is it possible to use Intel Media SDK on virtual machine (VMWare Workstation 9.0.2) Ubuntu (12.04 LTS)?

When running [install_media.sh] I get the following error:
"Error... Cannot get Device id, please follow the release notes of MSDK and install them manually!"

When I try to perform manual installation i'm unable to find the Intel GPU. This is the result of [lspci -nn]:

Hi,

Sorry, the Media SDK for Linux Servers is designed to make use of Intel hardware and requires access to the graphics accelerator device.  This means the functionality is not available to a "VM" environment.
