Hi there,

I am noticing frequent CPU usage spikes while rendering a full HD video on Edius X. Timeline is also lagging while editing .mts files. Low CPU usage happening while rendering.

Same video files are playing well in other system that has  i7 10700 processor.

Please help me to solve the issue.

My system configurations are as follow:

14700K

Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX Motherboard

64 GB GSkill DDR5 RAM

Corsair 360 AIO

Corsair 750 watt PSU

Samsung 980pro SSD

Dear Noritsu,

Thank you for reaching out to the community with your concern.

To troubleshoot the issue with the 14700K processor spike, please follow these steps:

  1. Update your BIOS to the latest version.
  2. After updating, test the processor on another compatible motherboard to help isolate the issue.

If the issue persists after completing these steps, please let me know so we can further assist you.

Dear JohnM_Intel,

Thank you for your suggestions.

My motherboard BIOS is updated to the latest version. I swapped 14700K with 14600k. System worked well without any issues.
I couldn't find another system with a Z790 motherboard to check 14700K. I think something is wrong with the CPU or the AIO is unable to cool it properly. When I perform a benchmarking test in the intel extreme utility app, system thermal throttles. I have tried Deepcool Ak620, Corsair Nautilus 360 AIO.

If possible please suggest an AIO with a TDP higher than 300 watt to tame 14700K.

Regards & thanks

Dear Noritsu,

Thank you for the update, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

To determine whether your processor is faulty, please follow the steps outlined in the "Overheating Symptoms and Troubleshooting for Intel® Boxed Processors" article. This will help diagnose any potential issues.

For an AIO cooler, I recommend choosing a larger cooling solution. However, the final choice depends on your preference. Just ensure that the AIO can handle your processor's TDP and is compatible with your CPU socket to effectively manage temperatures.

Let me know if you need further assistance!
