I got a Dell L702X laptop with i7-2630QM processor, 4 memory modules and setup with 16Gb (4 x 4GB) but I would like to increase the memory to 32GB as I run a lot of virtual machines, so I can never have enough memory.
But I noticed the Max memory specification (from processor description on Intel site) says 16GB for i7-2630QM and 32GB for i7-2720QM processors. Can anyone comment if i7-2630QM cannot support more than 16GB of memory ?
I have read in forums were people confirming their laptops support 32GB but with i7-2720QM processor.
Any info is helpful.i7

This processor supports up to 16 GB RAM, as in is instructed in the following website:
http://ark.intel.com/products/52219/Intel-Core-i7-2630QM-Processor-(6M-Cache-up-to-2_90-GHz) http://ark.intel.com/products/52219/Intel-Core-i7-2630QM-Processor-(6M-Cache-up-to-2_90-GHz)
So installing more than 16 GB, the processor will not see the extra memory, even if the motherboard supports it.
