Discontinued/Removed software: NUC Software Studio for Gaming Laptops

Hi!
I've reinstalled Windows recently, and when trying to download drivers/software I ran into an issue:

Intel® NUC Software Studio for Gaming Laptops, an app for switching between performance/balanced/energy saving mode, controlling fan speeds, enabling benchmark mode to squeeze a little more performance out of it, changing keyboard rbg color/brightness, limiting how much the battery can be charged etc...
was not only discontinued, but completely removed from Intel's webiste, the only place I can even find mentions of it is the Wayback Machine

Can this software be reuploaded, or an alternative be provided?

Hi oakosb,

Greetings from Intel Customer Support.

I understand that you are looking for the installer of the Intel® NUC Software Studio for Gaming Laptops. Please allow me to check what else I could be of help.

In order for me to assist you with this, I would like to set your expectations by saying that I will be asking you a series of questions to narrow down the recommendations I could provide. If you may, kindly share the following details below:

1. For the record, were you able to use the Intel NUC Software Studio before on your system?

2. What is the exact Intel NUC you are using?

3. May I know the link where you first to find out that the installer is missing from our website?

I will be waiting for your response.

Hi, thanks for the quick response!
1. Yes, the software was perfectly usable, the only bug I found was that after a certain GPU driver version it was no longer able to monitor GPU temps and just returned N/A, all other functionality was working as intended.
2. My laptop is a  NUC X15 LAPAC71H.
3. The link was the downloads section on Intel's website for my laptop, previously it had more software as seen on the Web Archive .

I have attached the package. Good thing I archived it myself; it appears that Intel blocked it from being accessed by the Internet Archive and thus it was not available via the Wayback Machine (pretty slimy move, I might add).

Hope this helps,

Thank you for sharing, Scott!
Unfortunately, these are just prerequisites/drivers needed to run software studio, not the application itself, though since you have these archived, maybe you also have the app & could share it? It was specifically called "NUC Software Studio for Gaming Laptops"
Edit: Nevermind, someone uploaded it to the Web Archive after all.
And pretty slimy, yeah so either way, I want an official resolution to this. This is a laptop from late 2022, while I somewhat understand the software no longer being maintained, considering NUC got sold off to ASUS, this laptop is still on sale in a few places, so essential software for it being made inaccessible, in my option is unacceptable.

Actually, I thought that it was automatically installed from the MS app store. You install the related driver/service packages and reboot and it should appear.

This isn't, and as far as I can tell never was on the MS app store, that one just gives me a dead link that isn't even archived, telling me to download the gaming laptop version.
MS store version:
nssl.png
archive org version:
nssgl.png
edit: also, this one doesn't need the drivers etc... the service pack is redundant, and uniwill literally breaks it, I had to uninstall that one, because it broke it, this one has it's own version of both built in.

G'day oakosb. My laptop is a NUC X15 LAPAC71E.081354.png I have downloaded and installed the archive .org version on a fresh install of win 115.png but UniwillService won't start.

It reports an error. So I'm interested in finding out what's different on my system compared to yours. Like, BIOS version, Windows edition, Windows settings, hardware, firmware, order of installation, etc. Or if you would have any further suggestions on how I might get NSS working?

Thanks in advance.

Hey!
I'm on the latest stable version of Windows 11 Pro, FW/HW etc... I don't think are relevant, since they seem to have very different specs and bios versions aren't compatible either, since your laptop uses, KCTGL357 (King County) while mine uses ACADL357 (Alder County).

Are you sure that your laptop needs this version of NSS from archive.org, and not this one from MS Store
NUC X15 Laptops under the "King County" codename, which is listed in your laptop's specs page are present in the description, so this seems like the correct version / iteration of NSS.

You are right oakasob. I needed the MS Store version.

It works!

Fresh install from Microsoft: Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) for x64 devices.

Let it update.

Not needed: Driver Pack for the Intel® NUC X15 Laptop Kit - LAPKC71F, LAPKC71E & LAPKC51E

May not be needed: BIOS Update [KCTGL357] for the Intel® NUC X15 Laptop Kits - LAPKC71F, LAPKC71E, LAPKC51E.

Install via Microsoft app store: Intel® NUC Software Studio. NOT!: Intel® NUC Software Studio for Laptops.

It gives a link to download the required Uniwell Service but it cannot be downloaded from there.

Go to - https://community.intel.com/t5/Mobile-and-Desktop-Processors/NUC-X15-LAPKC71E-I-need-an-installer-for-UniwillService/m-p/1677268#M82765%3Fwapkw=Lapkc71e

Download:
Intel NUC Software Studio Uniwell Service for X15 KC Laptops v1.0.3.11.zip

Install - UniwillService_1.0.3.11.exe

Thank you! n_scott_pearson

P.S. Device Manager shows detection verification driver not installed. Driver Booster 12 (free version) fixed this.

Better that you correspond using the Private Messaging system to communicate. This prevents having to share email addresses here in the public forum where it can be picked up and used for the nefarious.

Yes, but it is not available on official sources, which should not be the case for a laptop so recent, it's still being sold by resellers.

Thank you for patiently waiting.

I've checked internally, and it appears that we don't have a copy of the software as well. Dear Brian
I am writing to express my disappointment with the level of customer service and support provided. The NUC Software Studio for Gaming Laptops was the only way to adjust the equalizer for the LAPAC71G laptop. Since the release of the laptop, only two years have passed, and yet you have already removed this essential software. Without it, the device loses significant consumer functionality.

Previously, the software was available at the following link:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/764675/intel-nuc-software-studio-for-gaming-laptops.html?wapkw=nuc
However, this link now redirects to a general support page.

This issue is critical, as the lack of this software severely impacts the usability of the product. It also raises grounds for legal action, given that the product no longer meets its advertised capabilities.

Hi there,

please take a look at Steves solution: community.intel.com/t5/Processors/Solved-Microsoft-Store-fails-to-install-Intel-NUC-Software/m-p/1665405#M81582

That solved the problem instantly for me.

Good afternoon! As I understand it, this problem remains relevant today? After reinstalling Windows on my Intel NUC x15 laptop, it is not possible to install Intel® NUC Software Studio, which is why I have limitations on the product in many ways...

Yes, Intel didn't reupload the software anywhere. No wonder they are losing market share, they can't even provide, let alone support essential software for their products.
You can download it here though.
