hello intel support i am writing this message after the latest update to my gigabyte motherboard version aorus z790 elite ax ice edition (rev 1.0) . bios version F5 (0x12B final mitigation).
my issue is , i am making this processor work on pl1 and pl2 value 40 watt if i raise it to 50 watt or above and then run cs2(counter strike ) or any other game heavy fps without any fps cap. the temps go high as 75 and 80 and above during game, only during 40 watt its remain stable.
its been happening since i got this motherboard . i had previous bios version and the problem is same with all bios version. i was waiting kind of like this new bios update will fix it all for me. but no its not helping, i will list technical specification of my pc, cpu- 13700kf , gpu - 3060 ti, 1 tb wd_black sn850x NVMe SSD, monitor benq xl2546k . the settings i run my games are nvidia gpu scaling over ride checked, power management mode- prefer maximum performance. before i list my bios settings i will like to mention that nonetheless what settings intel profile or gigabyte perfdrive optimisation profile both are producing same high temp. event on all bios previos beta bios and wherever intel profile was present. my crosshair movement was much more stable in gigabyte profile hence i am using gigabyte profile currently.
my bios settings are
enhanced multicore performance off
cpu over temperature protection 95degrees
speedshift technology off
cpu eist technology off
intel(R) dynamic tuning technology off
c- state off
pl1=pl2=40 watt rest auto( cpu core current amps =auto)
secure boot=standard
port 60/64 emulation settings off(usb configuration)
xmp on ( 2x16 gb teamforce RAM @6000 mhz)
intel virtualization off
IA CEP current excursion protection is off
GT CEP current excursion protection is off
cpu under voltage protection off
race to halt feature off
ring to core offset downbin off
ac/dc loadline all values are auto
IA VR voltage control to limit cpu voltage to 1.28v -1.29v
all intel e cores disabled selectively one by one
i had this same processor work on a msi motherboard i have also posted on community previously which i got RMA the gaming performance is badly affected while playing same game on this motherboard i get low fps compare to previous motherboard. like drops in game can be game updates. i dont understand the same processor worked fine on msi and lacking performance in this new motherboard. above all i dont know to increase pl1=pl2 above 40 watt the temps go crazy spike. i wont last with settings recommended by you like 125 watt or 253 watt. i fear this processor will go extremely hot consistently if i tried those settings.i am stuck badly with what to change in bios or i am doing something wrong. my pc cooler is Gammaxx series LE500 240mm 6 color liquid cpu cooler.
and the cpu core current amps i have put it on auto because if i put like 307amps it affects my game with very bad crosshair movement. certain settings i havent touched because thats how i have got stability to play my game so far, but its still bad i will put it in conclusion. affects my ranking in game and their is literally no scope to remember your crosshair movement(muscle memory) its so hard like aiming from zero. entirely new sensitivity for me. kindly help me if i try any new solution fix from internet reddit it puts my game crosshair movement very worse bad in disadvantage against enemy in game. thanks

The power plan i am using is high performance cpu min max 100% only hybrid sleep and wake event timer wlan is enabled
My bios version is latest f6c december 04 2024
No i havent done any overclocking
Since u took time to reply let me tell what is the current situation
My bios settings are
Turbo power limit 40 watt pl1 pl2 both in advance cpu settings
The temperature doesnt go high like previous before but if i put it on auto it goes 80-88 degree Celsius , doesn't matter if i put limit like 125 watt recommended by intel it goes high with same setting anything like 100 watt turbo power limit will cause high temperature .
Cpu core current limit which is recommended 307ampere or low like 245/249 or 280 ampere putting any value inside cause it to make mouse movement go bad (high sens, skipping pixel) so i havent touched cpu core current limit its on auto .
Their is also setting by default for p core and e core enable mode which is random mode by default. Its bad. It doesnt go well with cpu on the board while i run game on random mode default. Games mouse movement is bugged. I have to change it to selectable mode and change value for all p cores and e cores from auto to enabled. After that its better.
I dont use intel default settings which was supposed to replace gigabyte perfdrive settings. It doesnt go well with xmp settings on the board. I can tell the other setting i have to apply to make intel settings work. But overall i found optimization one better. Intel settings were not helping with temperature either, like is said in original post their is high temperature on both settings. 40 watt is what i am running it on.
The motherboard also comes with intel(R) wifi and intel(R) bluetooth , the wifi gives packet loss repeatedly on games like cs2 and other multiplayer titles.i have to rely on ethernet otherwise the mouse movement was better with intel wifi but no help here either.
Another think i have faced such an annoying time is with. Intel drivers support tool. Its a seperate topic. Like how i installed it and updated my intel wifi and bluetooth driver which were provided were intel. But somehow i found the manufacturer drivers more compatible at that time, so i thought i should uninstall the drivers but turned out when u uninstall driver from device manager for intel(R) bluetooth and intel(R) wifi while ticking attemp to remove drivers for this device. It doesnt do complete installation, their is an updated bluetooth program is left to manually uninstall from user side, which i found out too late while i was having hard time with these bios settings. If u dont uninstall updated intel(R) bluetooth from control panel programs and features then ur manufacturer driver version which are older ones they dont work like they should be. I change single setting their is mouse movement issues.
Thats sum another issue.

Hello ashish_singh,
Thank you for providing such an in-depth explanation of the issue you're facing. I understand that balancing temperatures, performance, and stability can be challenging, especially dealing with BIOS configurations and gaming sensitives.
Please answer the additional following questions:
- Are the fans on your cooler running properly?
- Have you re-applied thermal paste?
- Have you used tools like HWMonitor, or Intel XTU to verify the actual readings, power consumption, and clock speeds during gaming? If yes, please provide the results here.
- Does disabling XMP have any effect?
- Have you tested with lower power settings?
Please generate an SSU report to help me further analyze important details on your system. To generate the SSU report, please refer to the article: How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*. Please send us the generated SSU.txt file.
I look forward to your response!

hallo intel support
i have tested the temps with higher wattage like 80 and 100 watts and temps were not high this time , it would take like 40 min of gaming to give spike of 80-86 degree Celsius but mouse sensi is not accurate, or happen to change with increase in wattage its bad,so i reverted back to 40 watt currently but i did an xtu stress test comes inbuilt with 100 wattage will share the screenshot.
disabling xmp is not good their is like crosshair is much responsive but its dancing like crazy, both xmp and non xmp settings doesnt pick movements they both skipping small movements, in non xmp its very fast, in xmp its slow but u cant aim between two gaps.
yeah i have tried balanced power settings recommended from microsoft, it doesn't makes any difference
i am sending u link of video i recorded using nvidia overlay kindly check it, its on google drive, if u have any problem opening video through link kindly let me know.

hallo intel support
i have posted the game settings screenshot i remembered at moment if i forgot something kindly let me know
yes my mouse is a wired mouse, its a Hyperx mouse model pulsefire surge also attaching screenshot where u can see in mouse software comes with a name Ngenuity for hyperx products with mouse name model and firmware number, on mouse body itself model written/printed is "HX-MC002B" i am not sure its double zero or double letter "O" if u need i can send u pic of it.
i have tried different mouse too razer viper mini it also had same issue in game.
the mouse sensitivity issue occured in cs is much more visible, i had apex legends installed and had played it enough , but in cs i played only 4:3 but in apex i played 16:9 but i never tried or have a history of playing apex in a stable pc , since i got this pc i havent had single stable game, whether its this motherboard or previous msi motherboard, i played csgo on my cousin pc it was flawless, so i remember crosshair placement etc. so yeah when i try new game i automatically assume the aiming is bugged.
i dont know how exactly to share the xtu stress test log. i had tried this enable file logging and it gave me an Excel file,i hope it helps. also sharing link generated after test of some hwbot site. https://hwbot.org/xtu2/share/2122903
kindly let me know if their are specific steps to share those result, i will redo those test again. those test are done in 100 watt pl1/pl2.
thanks

Hello ashish_singh,
Thank you for patiently waiting. Upon further review, it seems that the issue is not with the processor as for the previous motherboard that you have used, you are not encountering any issues with the temperature.
Additionally, since you are not using Intel Recommended Settings as of the moment, I would like to confirm if with the Recommended Settings, does your system still encounter the issue? Additionally, I would like to confirm if you have contacted your Motherboard Manufacturer regarding the issue being encountered?
Since you are encountering high temperatures as of the moment, I would like you to follow the troubleshooting indicated at Overheating Symptoms and Troubleshooting for Intel® Boxed Processors.
If you have further questions, kindly let me know so that I may assist you accordingly.
I look forward to your response!
