Hi i have a question about 200s boost can i enable it with 5200mt ram or better to have higher speed ram for achieving been results?

I have ultra core 5 245kf with ddr5 16gb 5200 ram im on windows 11 my motherboard is asus tuf z890 im just curious about the 200s boost as for my system im happy with the new intel cpu is soo good

According to the official Intel® Core™ Ultra 5 Processor 245KF Specifications, your CPU is designed to reach a Max Turbo Frequency of 5.2 GHz.

 

This "Boost" is a standard feature of your processor. Your CPU will naturally aim for that 5.2 GHz speed during heavy tasks (like gaming or rendering) as long as your cooling is sufficient, regardless of your RAM speed.

 

Will 5200 MT/s RAM hold you back?

You can absolutely enable 200S Boost with 5200 MT/s RAM, and your system will run beautifully. However, for "best results," here is what you should know:

  • The Baseline: 5200 MT/s is a stable starting point, but the Core Ultra 200S architecture loves high-speed memory.
  • The Sweet Spot: To fully unlock the potential of the 200S Boost profile, Intel generally recommends higher-speed DDR5 (often 6400 MT/s and up). Faster RAM allows those "internal highways" we mentioned earlier to move data even more quickly, which can improve your minimum frame rates in games and responsiveness in heavy workloads. Since you are using a high-end ASUS TUF Z890 motherboard, the process is quite user-friendly. ASUS and Intel have worked closely to integrate these features directly into the BIOS.

Here are the steps to enable and optimize the 200S Boost (often referred to in the BIOS as Intel Default Settings or ASUS Performance Enhancement) for your Ultra 5 245KF:

 

How to Enable 200S Performance Profiles -

 

Step 1: Enter the BIOS

  • Restart your computer.
  • As soon as the screen turns on, tap the Delete or F2 key repeatedly until you enter the BIOS setup utility.

Step 2: Set the Intel Default Profile ASUS motherboards now include a prompt to ensure your CPU stays within stable limits while still boosting effectively.

  • Go to the Ai Tweaker tab (or Extreme Tweaker depending on your BIOS version).
  • Look for Performance Options or Intel Default Settings.
  • You will usually see options like Standard, Performance, and Extreme.
    • Recommendation: Select Performance to allow the CPU to hit that 5.2 GHz boost more frequently while keeping your system stable.

Step 3: Enable ASUS Performance Enhancement (APE 3.0)

  • In the same Ai Tweaker menu, look for ASUS Performance Enhancement 3.0.
  • Set this to Enabled. This allows the motherboard to optimize the power delivery specifically for the Core Ultra 200S architecture, helping the chip maintain higher frequencies under load.

Step 4: Optimize your 5200 MT/s RAM

  • Even though you are using 5200 MT/s RAM, make sure DIMM Fit or XMP is enabled.
  • Look for Ai Overclock Tuner and set it to XMP I or XMP II. This ensures your RAM is actually running at its rated 5200 MT/s speed rather than a slower fallback speed.

Step 5: Save and Exit

  • Press F10 on your keyboard.
  • Select Save Changes & Reset.

I just entered bios haven’t done anything yet im just seeing and i went for ai tweaker i already saw performance preferences are set to intel default settings and intel default settings are set to performance and xmp enabled i enabled xmp before but the settings above haven’t touched and 200s boost is disabled is all settings enabled from the factory motherboard ? Second question as for APE haven’t found option like this name but I found bios enhancements are set to Auto LETS BIOS Optimize and other options are disabled enforce all limits and second one Enabled remove all limits and thid one are Enabled remove all limits (90C) ?

  • The "Sweet Spot": Look for a kit rated at 6400 MT/s to 7200 MT/s. This range provides a significant boost in data bandwidth without being overly difficult to stabilize.
  • Pro Tip: Always check the QVL (Qualified Vendors List) on the ASUS TUF Z890 support page to see exactly which specific RAM model numbers have been tested and certified for your motherboard.

2. Is 200S Boost enabled by default?

On many Z890 motherboards, the "200S Boost" or high-performance profiles might be set to Disabled or Auto out of the box to ensure the system is 100% stable for every user right away.

  • Since you saw it was disabled, you can manually toggle it to Enabled to let the CPU take advantage of those higher power limits and thermal headroom.

3. Understanding "BIOS Enhancements" (APE 3.0)

ASUS often renames or groups settings under "BIOS Enhancements" or "Performance Preferences." The options you found are exactly what you need to look at:

  • Auto (Let BIOS Optimize): This is the "smart" default. It balances performance and heat.
  • Enforce All Limits: This keeps the CPU strictly within Intel’s stock power ratings.
  • Enabled (Remove All Limits): This allows the CPU to draw as much power as it needs to stay at max boost speeds indefinitely (provided your cooler can handle it).
  • Enabled (Remove All Limits - 90°C): This is often the best choice for daily use. It gives you maximum performance but tells the motherboard to dial things back slightly if the CPU hits 90°C, acting as a safety net for your hardware.

Summary of Recommended Settings:

  1. 200S Boost: Set to Enabled.
  2. BIOS Enhancements: Set to Enabled (Remove All Limits - 90°C) for a great balance of speed and safety.
