High core temperatures

Hello

I have one Samsung RF511-SD3, which is equipped with one i7-2670QM processor.

The problem is: core temperatures are always higher than what it should, at least compared to the values searched.

It's around 60-65ºC while idle and go up to 95ºC when running a game. Though they are acceptable to the limit specified (100ºC), I noticed that even while using low CPU the core temperatures still raise a lot.

While searching for a solution, I found the Intel program: Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool. The result was:

As far as I know, all the recommended settings for this test were applied according to the same Intel page where the program was downloaded.

The reasons why I think it has any problem are mainly due to the idle temperature and when using low CPU and still having high temperatures.

I appreciate any help.

Edit:

Running *\Intel Corporation\Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool 64bit\CPUFreq.exe I got the following diagnostic:

CPU Frequency Test

Module Version: 1.0.14.64b.W

Start Time: Thu Feb 04 12:01:53 2016

Test Result - PASS

Processor Name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz

Expected CPU Frequency: 2.20

Detected CPU Frequency: 2.2

Expected Base Clock: 100

Detected Base Clock: 100

QPI link rate Test - Not supported.

Skipping QPI link rate Test.

End Time: Thu Feb 04 12:01:55 2016

Total Time: seconds: 2

Another fact noticed is when using the laptop connected and with the battery attached: after some hour doing heavy tasks, the battery is still at 99-100% of charge, but after unplug the energy cable the computer shut down. I found out that it was some kind of imbalance among the battery cells and it happens merely due to high usage.

Please try to set power options in Windows® 10 to "Balanced(recommended)" and run the test one more time, also make sure that in "Chance advanced power settings" you have the following;

Hello Amy_Intel

The test result was done with these settings that you advised.

Edit: accidentally I posted all the test results done. I edited the last post and now there is only one result done with the advised settings.

Have you contacted Samsung Support in regard to this matter? Normally, I would recommend you to contact us in order to check the replacement options but this is an OEM system and it is possible that your computer manufacturer can provide with more troubleshooting steps.

I did contacted Samsung Support in the past and everything they said was: "once the temperature isn't above 100ºC, it's normal".

I will try another contact with Samsung Support and update this topic.
