Hello Marky1,
Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.
Could you please inform us of the method you use to monitor your CPU's temperature? Could you clarify whether the CPU reaches high temperatures during idle periods or under heavy workload conditions?
It's rare for a processor to suffer damage from overheating thanks to built-in operational safeguards. Processors are equipped with two thermal protection mechanisms: throttling and automatic shutdown. If a core's temperature surpasses the designated throttle limit, it will lower its power consumption to maintain a temperature within safe parameters. Should the processor be unable to keep a safe temperature via throttling, it will shut down automatically to avert any potential damage.
Please note that we do not specify standard operating temperature ranges for our processors or individual cores, as these can fluctuate depending on the system's design and the workload it handles. Processors come with built-in safeguards against excessive heat, and the safe operating ranges beneath these thresholds can vary widely, influenced by the system's configuration and the tasks it performs.
To gain further insight into processor temperatures, please consult the 'Information about Temperature for Intel® Processors' page.
Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Caguicla C.
