Hi,
I've recently received custom built computer from computer store.
When I turn on any XMP profile, random pixels start appearing on my screen. Also in 3Dmark, during benchmark some textures were red.
Only on 'default' XMP profile (6400 MT/s), without any performance mode or so, these artifacts don't appear.
My PC specs:
CPU: Core Ultra 7 265K
Motherboard: MSI PRO Z890-P WIFI
RAM: CUDIMM Kingston FURY 24GB CL 40 8400 MT/s Regenade Silver XMP.
PSU: be quiet! Power Zone 2 850W 80 PLUS Platinum
Methods of troubleshooting, i have tried:
- I've placed RAM into different slots.
- Reinstalling Windows 11.
- I have placed my old gtx 1050ti and it worked perfectly.
Now, can I somehow fix this issue, or do I have to RMA something?

Hello,
I have decided to build this system on my own. These issues persisted even with new parts (all the same except different RAM 8400), so maybe core ultra igpu is too weak for faster rams.
So my solution to this problem is just turning off XMP and 200S boost while using igpu, or just use dedicated card if you have it. I am using 1050 ti and it works perfectly.
So yeah I don't know real solution to this, maybe Intel will tell us.

Your PC is faulty. As it was custom built by a computer store you should contact them and ask for a RMA. They should then take it back and either fix it or replace it. It would be a good idea before doing so to put it back in the state in which you received it so that issues such as the random pixels and texture problems during benchmarks can be demonstrated.

They actually didn't even turn XMP on (which they said they would), so I doubt that they even tested it.
I just want to know which component's fault is it. I suspect that it is a faulty CPU, but I will still ask them for RMA.
Thanks

Hello, did the RMA fix your problem. I am having the same issue. Brand new system.
Core Ultra 265k, Gskill DDR5 6400 CL32, MSI Tomahawk Z890 latest bios, with XMP enabled or 200S Boost enabled, causes underscores or _ to randomly pop up everywhere when using the iGPU. It does not show these glitches when using a discrete GPU (tested nvidia 50xx series)
I have seen other posts with this happening in ubuntu, so i don't think its a windows problem with other users. My problem looks exactly like this.. https://i.sstatic.net/F0L0pv7V.gif
Its a real pain to RMA a CPU, so i want to have confidence that mine is defective before going through the RMA Process.
to replicate the error:
Enable XMP or Enable 200S Boost
Move the cursor around
** it seems to happen more when the system is just booting up, or under load.
PS. Intel are you tracking this as a bug, or do I need to RMA my 265k? I only have a limited window to return the processor.

Hi, I actually ended up returning the PC to the store for servicing, and they will decide if RMA is needed.
At the moment, the PC is still with the service team, and I’m currently waiting for their feedback. Unfortunately, I don’t have any updates yet regarding what the exact issue is or whether a specific component will need to be replaced.
Once I hear back from them, I’ll make sure to post an update.

I think it might have to do with having both iGPU and a discreet video card at the same time.. Which is actually the reason i bought the processor, i want to run my nvidia headless for ai workflows and run Intel to maximize the vram. As soon as 200S boost or XMP is enabled, i get the graphics glitches but also the video processing from the iGPU is choppy and unstable. Its hard to know if its a DDR5 Ram thing (on the compatibility list), a defective CPU, or a bug that needs to be fixed. I hope we can get an answer soon so i can RMA appropriately if needed.

I don't know about that. For me it was happening while only using iGPU. I bought this system to work on iGPU until I get a dedicated one.
Personally I don't think it's a bug, or DDR5 thing. I still suspect faulty processor. Service team told me that they will check if a replacement of CPU or RAM, works in my case.
I will make sure to post an update once I get response from them.
