Hello @excavation5
Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We would be more than glad to help you with your issue.
In order to have a better understanding of your issue, please provide me with the following:
1. Have you tried by uninstalling the XTU too and reinstalling it again?
2. Can you please provide us with the SSU report?
Please provide us with the following reports:
SSU: Please download and scan your system using our tool, Intel® System Support Utility so we can help check your system info first. Once finished downloading, open the tool, click on scan 'Everything', click next, then save the system information to a .txt file. Please provide the .txt file.
This document will be necessary to check your entire system, in order to find possible errors or incompatibilities.
IPDT: Download and run the **Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool (IPDT)**. Please provide the actual screenshot of the result (whole page) and the log notes. (Click File > View results file (it will open a notepad) > file then save as (by default file name is TESTRESULTS.TXT)).
We need this file to verify the functionality of an Intel® microprocessor. The diagnostic tool checks for brand identification verifies the processor operating frequency, tests specific processor features, and performs a stress test on the processor.
XTU: Download and run the CPU Stress Test (5 minutes) using **Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU)**. Kindly provide the screenshot while the test is ongoing (about 3 minutes) and after the test is finished. Please make sure the whole page is seen including the graphs.
We need this file to monitor the performance and the power usage of the CPU.
For more information about troubleshooting for this kind of issues, please refer to the following article:
Unable to Start Intel® XTU Due to Another Performance Tuning Application Running.
Also, try the following:
Some users with an ASUS* motherboard combined with an unlocked processor may be unable to restore profiles settings after reboot. This is because the Intel® Watchdog Timer Driver (Intel® WDT Driver) is not present in Intel® XTU. Intel® WDT Driver is responsible for the automatic Restore tuning after reboot settings. Under Intel® XTU System Information, find Watchdog section and confirm Watchdog Present shows False. False means the Watchdog is not detected within the system, and the Intel® XTU user will have to manually restore settings/profiles after reboot.
Resolution:
When you’ve found settings that result in successful overclocking and a stable system, you can save the profile in Intel® XTU to have a known working configuration. This can be useful when replicating different tests and for keeping successful tests.
To save a profile:
- Click the Profiles tab.
- Click Save. You will be able to name your profile.
To load a saved profile:
- Click Profiles tab and select the one you would like to load.
- Click Show Values button to preload the settings (changed values appear in yellow in Advanced Tuning tab).
- Click Apply to use those settings.
Lastly, based on the article Common Issues and Resolutions for Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility, check the following information that can be important in your case:
· Issue: I have Intel Extreme tuning utility installed in my laptop but why I am unable to overclock the processor?
o Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility can be installed in laptops but it will not work for overclocking purposes. This is because overclocking with Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility only works for processors with K, KF, or X in their processor number.
o When the tool is installed in your laptop with an unsupported processor, the user can view system information parameters such as processor information and motherboard and BIOS info. However, using the tool to change parameters in your laptop such as core voltage can result in inconclusive and unreliable behavior due to an unsupported processor.
As your CPU is within the supported range, kindly furnish us with all the necessary details beforehand to facilitate its validation by the responsible team.
Thanks for your understanding.
Best regards,
Isaac Q.

Dear @excavation5,
I appreciate your prompt response.
In my previous communication, I posed a set of inquiries. I kindly request that you perform an uninstall and reinstall of XTU, and subsequently provide the SSU, XTU, and IPDT reports. Furthermore, I have furnished you with a series of troubleshooting steps and shared relevant articles that may assist you in addressing your issue.
I am interested to learn whether you have encountered any difficulties in obtaining the reports or have encountered any challenges while executing the troubleshooting steps.
Nonetheless, we remain committed to assisting you. However, if you have determined that the issue pertains to your motherboard, or in this particular case, your laptop, I would recommend reaching out directly to the OEM, Asus. They are best equipped to offer precise troubleshooting guidance for their products.
Should you still require our assistance, please respond to our queries, furnish the requested reports, and provide an update on the results of the troubleshooting undertaken.
Warm regards,
Isaac Q.
